South Korea – Gyeongbokgung Seoul

  1. Gyeongbokgung is a stunning palace located in Seoul, South Korea. It’s a significant historical site, originally built in 1395 and served as the main royal palace during the Joseon dynasty. The name “Gyeongbokgung” translates to “Palace Greatly Blessed by Heaven.” The palace complex is expansive, featuring beautiful traditional Korean architecture, with ornate gates, halls, pavilions, and gardens. Gyeongbokgung was designed according to Confucian principles, showcasing the harmony between nature and man-made structures. One of its most famous features is Geunjeongjeon, the main throne hall, where important state affairs and royal ceremonies took place. Visitors can also see the National Folk Museum of Korea and the National Palace Museum of Korea within the palace grounds, offering insights into Korean history and culture. Despite being damaged during invasions and wars, Gyeongbokgung has been restored and is now a popular tourist destination, allowing visitors to experience the grandeur of Korea’s past.

  3. As of my last knowledge update in January 2023, the entrance fee for Gyeongbokgung Palace was as follows
    • Adults (ages 19-64): 3,000 Korean Won
    • Children and Teenagers (ages 7-18): free
    • However, please note that these fees might have changed since then. It’s a good idea to check the official website of Gyeongbokgung Palace or inquire through the local tourism office for the most current and accurate information about entrance fees, especially as prices and policies can change over time.
